Who We are
At A Kid's Place of Tampa Bay, we believe every child deserves a safe, stable, and nurturing home, especially in moments of crisis. Founded in 2009, we are a unique program designed to support the foster care system by keeping brothers and sisters together in a home-like setting. Since opening our doors, we've served more than 1,700 children and over 750 families, raising the standard for group homes and inspiring similar programs nationwide. We serve the greater Tampa Bay area, Hillsborough, Paso and Pinellas counties.
Why We're Different
Before A Kid's Place opened, sibling groups removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment were often separated and sent to different foster families or group homes depending on availability, age, or special needs. Research shows that separation compounds trauma. A Kid's Place is the solution. Our live-in House Parent model allows brothers and sisters to remain together in a stable, home-like environment where healing can begin. We meet each child's social, educational, medical, and emotional needs while offering the security of family during uncertain times. Our five homes on campus serve children from birth through 17. In 2021, we expanded to serve young adults ages 18-23 who have aged out of foster care but still need structure, guidance, and support. As the needs of foster youth evolve, so do we. We are now serving more teenagers and young adults than ever before, each requiring expanded resources and opportunities.
At A Kid's Place, we're not just responding to the needs of today, we're building the foundation for brighter tomorrows. Through the dedication of our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and generous community partners, we raise awareness and secure the support needed to keep our doors open and our mission strong.
